Sixth Form Enrichment
A Sixth Form experience is more than only academic study so we recognise the value of extending the Sixth Form experience beyond the classroom and will structure opportunities around the areas of creativity, activity and service. Students can take part in many extra-curricular activities to help develop confidence, self-assurance and interpersonal skills, all vital for future success. As part of the curriculum we have a timetabled ‘Sixth Form Enrichment’ where students are able to opt in to football, basketball, netball, dance, gym or yoga. Alternatively, students are able to participate in the debate or book club during this time or use it for private study.
Opportunities to be creative can add enormous value to all students as individuals, as well as their studies. We provide opportunities to be involved in school productions and performances, dance, debating, music, photography, design, film and more. Our flagship lunchtime lecture series has seen over 25 lectures delivered by a variety of university lectures and scholars, business people and entrepreneurs. The lectures are delivered similar to what a student would experience at University.
We believe strongly in promoting a healthy lifestyle and provide lots of opportunities for students to get involved in such as football, volleyball, basketball, netball, athletics, trampolining and rounders. We also have accredited awards like Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and Sports Leaders which are increasing growing in popularity and are looked upon favourably by employers and universities. In addition every Sixth Form student will be given the opportunity of taking part in a wide variety of educational visits. Such as our annual trip to New York or skiing in Austria. The variety of out of classroom learning opportunities is rich and varied as we know it adds great value to a learning and wider world experience.
Community and charitable work is highly valued at the Elmgreen Sixth Form. Giving back to your school and your local area is an important aspect of The Elmgreen Way. We offer a wide variety of opportunities for students such as being a peer mentor or a reading buddy with our trust partners at Rosendale Primary School. We have paid Lunchtime Leaders who supervise at lunchtime in addition to subject specific mentors and sports coaches to work within department areas. We have seen these opportunities develop kindness and care in our students preparing them for adult life.
