At the Elmgreen School, we offer BTEC’s at L2 (equivalent to GCSE’s) and Level 3 (equivalent to A Levels). BTEC’s allow students to learn in a more practical context with an emphasis on both coursework and exams.
The subjects we offer are:
- Art and Design Level 2
- Hospitality Level 2
- Music Level 2
- Sport Level 2/3
- Business Studies Level 2/3
- ICT Level 2/3
- Health and Social Care Level 3 and BTEC Entry Level 3
BTEC students develop their knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work-related context.
The teaching team creates a series of assignments, which can be written or activity based. The format of the assignments varies to suit the needs of the subject area, and could include activities such as creating a film clip, planning and putting on a performance, or creating a business plan.
BTEC assignments offer learners the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in a real-life context. Students work on assignments in a variety of ways; some they complete on their own, and for others they work as part of a team.
All BTEC Firsts and Nationals are assessed predominantly through teacher-led internal assessment. However, the new 2016 L2 and L3 BTEC courses are assessed through a combination of internal and external assessment.
