Subject Evening - Tuesday 9th February 2010
Families are invited to visit subject teachers in the English, Art, Drama and the MFL departments from 4pm-7pm. The purpose of the evening will be to give families an overview of the curriculum and an opportunity to look at student books and work since September 2009. Subject teachers will be located in their teaching rooms so it is important that students attend the evening with their families. The evening is open to all students from all year groups. Families please be aware that there will be limited scope for 1 to 1 detailed meetings with teachers as these can be held during the March family conferences. This is an ideal opportunity to come in to school to meet subject specialists and see first hand the working environment of our students.
We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday

PPF Skills Bureau: Wednesday 27th January 2010
Did you know where you’d end up working when you were at school? No? You weren’t the only one. Many students have little idea of the huge range of careers they could follow.
As parents and carers we can help by suggesting new directions and guiding students on how to reach their goals. The PPF is hosting the Skills Bureau at school on Wednesday 27th January 2010.
Parents and carers from all walks of life with a huge range of skills and experience will be talking to small groups of year 9 students (age 13/14) about their work and the sort of skills needed to succeed. Could you spare a couple of hours to help out? We need people from all areas but people with skilled trades are especially needed. You’ll be sharing your unique knowledge with lots of students - not just your own child.
We are aiming to have 10 parents representing 10 different work sectors at each session.
The sessions will run at the following times: (1) 8.30-10.10am , (2) 10.30-12.10pm, (3) 1.30-3.15pm. Of course you’re welcome to attend more than one session if you can spare the time!
To be involved please call Kate Scrase, PPF Project Manager on 0208 678 9181 or email Kscrase@the-elmgreen-school.org.uk. Feel free to call Kate for more information.
