Few of us have time to read a whole book in one sitting, which means we need to mark our place between reading sessions. Of course any old scrap of paper will do, but a bookmark looks so much better and will last longer. In the library we have a selection of bookmarks to choose from designed by our Library Assistant Ms Grahl. The bookmarks are especially useful because they are printed with a guide to the Dewey Decimal Classification system – the number scheme we use to classify our non-fiction books. Each bookmark has a number on it which matches a subject. So 500 is Science; 700 is Arts and Recreation (which includes sport); 900 is History and Geography. What’s your favourite subject? Come and choose a bookmark. It’ll help you keep your place in your current book and remind you where to find out more about your favourite subject on our shelves.
