Music
Music is a very popular part of the curriculum at The Elmgreen School and the department is constantly growing and developing to suit the needs of the students. We cover a range of topics in Years 7, 8 and 9, including Making your Own Band, Jazz, Blues, Film Music and Song Writing, and each topic focuses heavily on group work and performance skills.
We are currently installing our music ICT room which will enable students to use music software in their lessons to create and record their own music, and we will also have our studio and live room running very soon, which will give students a fantastic opportunity to learn how to use a studio and also experience the environment of a professional studio setting.
We offer various instrumental lessons including guitar, piano, voice, violin and saxophone, and also put on a concert at the end of every term, where we really encourage students to perform their own work. Many students have taken this as an opportunity to set up their own bands and write their own songs, which is excellent for their development as musicians.
We are currently developing an exciting 14 – 19 curriculum where students will be able to study a range of different music and improve their performing and compositional skills, gaining formal qualifications along the way.
