ICT Advice

ICT is used extensively at The Elmgreen School and it is important that families can offer support and guidance when required. On this page of the website you will find advice and guidance to ensure that your children can work safely and effectively with ICT.

Software

We use the Office 2007 suite at school (Word 2007, Excel 2007, Publisher 2007 and PowerPoint 2007). It is possible to purchase Office 2007 using a student discount from Software4Students (http://www.software4students.co.uk/).

The following software is open source and therefore free to download and use for personal use.

OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) - a productivity suite of programmes like Office 2007. You can save your files in Office 2007 format and then open them at school on our system.

Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) - sound editing software.

Gimp (http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/index.html) - image editing and graphics software.

Paint.net (http://www.getpaint.net/index.html) - graphics editing software.

Blender (http://www.blender.org/) - 3D modelling software.

Google Sketchup (http://sketchup.google.com/) - 3D modelling software used in DT and ICT.

Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/) - Games development software.

  • Key Stage 4 Subject Surgery

    There will be a parents’ evening on Thursday 26 January, 4 – 7 pm, for invited families of Year 10 and Year 11 where we have a concern about attainment and progress. All families will receive a letter shortly regarding this crucial opportunity to meet with your child’s subject teachers. It is hoped that all invited families will be able to attend.
