The History curriculum offered at The Elmgreen School aims to develop our students’ understanding of the people, issues and events that have shaped the modern world. Skills developed by the study of History include the ability to research information, construct arguments, to communicate human emotions and to understand the world around us. We make use of a variety of techniques, technologies and learning styles to bring History to life at the school.
In Year 8 students study a variety of Historical periods including:
- The Norman Conquest
- Medieval Britain
- Tudors
- English Civil War
- Industrial Revolution.
At Year 9 students study:
- The History of the Black Peoples of the Americas.
- The Two World Wars
- The Holocaust
- The Local History of the borough and London as a whole.
The History department is currently in the process of constructing a forward thinking History course for both GCSE and A-Level making use of the superb technological and other resources available at the school.
