Exam tips and advice

Top tips to help you perform well in exams

  1. Before you do any revision, warm up by doing some gentle exercises to relieve any tension in your body and to get oxygen flowing to your brain.
  2. Stay fresh - when revising, only do 30 minutes of work at a time followed by at least a five minute break.
  3. Know which subjects you have on what day so that you are fully prepared.
  4. Read the questions carefully - if you misread the question your answer will be wrong.
  5. Try to write your answers in your best hand writing so that it is easy for the marker to read.
  6. If you are faced with a mental block during the exam breathe deeply, relax and ask yourself "If I did know the answer to this question, what would it be?"
  7. Get a good night sleep on the night before the exam so that you are fully rested in the morning.
  8. Don’t Panic as exams are not there to fail you but are important to help check what you have already learnt

GOOD LUCK!
