Anyone who stays in school for clubs and activities on Monday afternoons will have enjoyed smelling the delicious aroma’s wafting from Cookery Club. In the library we like to guess what they’re cooking. Stir fry? Curry? Or maybe something sweet? It always makes us feel really hungry!
Proof that lots of you are interested in cooking lies not only in the popularity of the cookery club, but also in our readers who regularly come and browse our collection of recipe books. We have a great selection for beginners and quite a few for those of you who are more seasoned chefs. If you are a novice in the kitchen you might like a back to basics offering like Delia’s Complete How to Cook. It starts at the very beginning with how to boil, poach and fry eggs and has a good chapter on cakes and biscuits. Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food boasts that ‘anyone can learn to cook in twenty-four hours’. Borrow this and you could master burgers, kebabs and a classic roast dinner. We have more specialised books too. Love Italian? Then try Classic Pasta. Prefer hot and spicy? The World’s Greatest-Ever Curries is for you. We also have African, Middle Eastern, Indian and Caribbean books all bursting with delicious food.
