On Thursday the 19th of November staff, students and families came together for a night of sharing and celebration at the Elmgreen School. The Black and Asian cultural evening offered all visitors an opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity at TES. There were a variety of stalls in the market place including Henna tattoos, Ebony Saturday school, flag painting, Nelson Mandela charity stall, and cooking demonstrations.
In the kitchen exotic dishes ranging from rice and peas, patties, sammosas and salt fish were served. Students engaged with families playing games like owari and capoeira dancing. The evening concluded in the main hall with families entertained by dancers, a local poet and a wonderful performance from the school choir. An enjoyable evening was had by over 150 families and feedback from families included, good food reasonably priced, excellent variety of performances, good raffle and a comment that the Cooking class was great.
A special thanks to all the staff and students who worked very hard in putting on the event and we hope next year to make the show bigger and better.
Thank you
Paul Castle and Justin Russell.
